Diseñador francés (1880-1936). En 1912 abrió un pequeño establecimiento de confección en París. La guerra interrumpió su carrera al tener que ir al frente. En 1919 volvió a abrir su casa, esta vez con su nombre. Presentó vestidos de estilo pastoril, de talle alto y faldas acampanadas. Vistió a las actrices Constance Bennett y Louise Brooks, pero sus mayores logros fueron las prendas deportivas que ocuparon siempre un lugar destacado en sus colecciones. En los primeros años veinte, sus originales creaciones en este campo aportaron una dimensión nueva a la moda. La tenista Suzanne Lenglen lució sus modelos dentro y fuera de las pistas. Sus faldas plisadas a media pierna y los cárdigans sin manga siguen siendo muy actuales. Patou dominaba la alta costura y la confección, por eso, desde 1919 hasta su muerte se le consideró un gigante de la moda.
